The Henry Repeating Arms Company, a firearms company established near the end of the 20th Century, has quickly made a name for itself with its classic-inspired lever-action rifles. The company's flagship .22 LR rifle, the Golden Boy, has become particularly iconic, paying homage to the original Henry rifles and Winchester 1866s with its distinctive brass receiver cover.
As Henry expanded its offerings, it introduced centerfire lever-action rifles dubbed "Big Boys" and even ventured into the revolver market with a centerfire .357 Magnum model. Now, in 2024, Henry is set to complete its lineup with the eagerly anticipated rimfire version of this revolver: the Golden Boy Revolver.
The Golden Boy Revolver shows Henry's commitment to craftsmanship and tradition. Its deeply blued steel frame, genuine American walnut grip panels, and polished brass backstrap and trigger guard evoke a sense of nostalgia while its modern manufacturing techniques ensure reliability and accuracy. The revolver is available with two grip styles: the Gunfighter-style for enhanced control and the Birdshead-style for better concealment, catering to different shooting preferences.
Attention to detail is evident in the revolver's internal components. The hand-fitted parts and high tolerances result in a smooth action and consistent performance. The trigger pull is linear and predictable, whether in double or single action, and the hammer drop is crisp and clean. These features, combined with the meticulous fitting of the internal components, contribute to the revolver's exceptional accuracy.
The Golden Boy Revolver's barrel is a 4-inch round-profile blued steel, and its sighting system is simple yet effective. A fixed notch rear sight is integrated into the frame, and three interchangeable front sight blades allow for elevation adjustments. The revolver also features a 10-round cylinder with a quick takedown system, making cleaning and maintenance easier.
Both grip models of the Golden Boy Revolver share the same barrel and sighting system, making them equally appealing to fans of classic American revolvers. The fixed rear sight and interchangeable front sights provide a familiar and reliable shooting experience.
Weighing between 36 and 37 ounces, depending on the grip shape, the Golden Boy Revolver is well-balanced and comfortable to shoot. Its weight and dimensions make it suitable for both carry and target shooting, offering versatility for various shooting activities.
"It’s high time our flagship rifle had a bonafide revolver companion, and I’m proud to stamp the Henry name on what the team put together," says Anthony Imperato, founder and CEO of Henry Repeating Arms. "Providing our customers with the most smiles per dollar is paramount to everything we do, and these new products deliver in spades, whether on the range or in the field."
Both models are priced at an MSRP of $928, the Henry Golden Boy Revolver is a reasonably priced addition to any firearm collection. Its classic design, high-quality construction, and reliable performance make it a worthy investment for those seeking a traditional rimfire revolver.
