Here's our initial report on the Ground Zero National Airsoft Weekender just held over the weekend (22 to 24 August 2008) in Somerley Estate, Ringwood, Hampshire. Over 1,400 players from all over the United Kingdom and Europe representing over 50 teams came to setup camp at Ground Zero Woodland, a place with lots of foliage, hills, and action. It was a well organised event giving the event a very festive mood for two nights and three days.

The players were divided into three groups, namely: Bravo, Delta, and The Others (but not comprised of ghosts like that Nicole Kidman movie eh?). Lots of objectives according to a set of scenarios given to the players. Saturday action started at 1000H and ended at 1730H, and this was non-stop. A short break from there with a raffle draw giving away prizes from the Sponsors such as King Arms, Mil-Force, Zero One Airsoft and ICS. Then by 2100H night games went on, with us participating in this as our equipment became useless, so playing was the most logical thing to do.

The heavy rain and strong winds early Sunday morning failed to dampen spirits of the players and the games resumed by 1000H again with the same objectives as provided in Saturday's games.

Overall, it was a highly successfuly event, well-marshalled, carefully though-out facilities, and camarederie among players. Though we would have preferred more food stores as there was only one, and queues were long. An off-licence shop is also highly recommended to buy some supplies. But then, next year will be more promising as "H", the main organiser of the event promised that next year will even be more ambitious with new features and exciting scenarios.

Our many thanks to H and the all those involved in the event for being such a very helpful and accommodating group. Our job was made easier as we were allowed to roam freely in covering the event and information was always at hand to help us update ourselves.

Here are some of the photos we have taken from the event. A full After Action Report of the event with more photos and videos will be in the September issue of the Popular Airsoft Magazine. So stay tuned and enjoy the Photos!
