It’s a slow start for the first week of November as there are no major announcements in the airsoft and real steel sectors. But an interesting product that can divide shooters is now available in the market --- the G-Code Firebase.

The Firebase is a no slip rubber base that can fit Metal AR, PMAG AR, and AK magazines. Whilst the first impression of the Firebase is protecting the magazine base when it is dropped to the ground, G-Code mentions that is a shooting base and that means it can help for stabilised shooting any any surface when there is no monopod grip attached to the rifle.

Sold in pairs, the Firebase is available in three colours: black, ranger green and coyote brown. For airsoft players interested in getting a pair or more, these can work with real, low and midcaps for AEGs as well as gas blowbacks. High capacity AEG magazines would not work as the Firebase would cover the winding area which is found at the base of the magazine.

If you are prepared to ditch your Magpuls in favour of the Firebase, there is a debate in the shooting community that using the magazine to rest the rifle might induce rifle malfunctions. However, there are those who consider using the magazine as rifle rest for stability whilst shooting is a sound technique. This comes with a condition that the magazine used is of good quality and there are affordable quality magazines in the market.

The Firebasee is not exactly a new idea. There is already the MagPod magazine floor plate that has been in the market for over ten years now and is also replicated for the airsoft market. As to which would you prefer to use for your magazine as a rifle rest, that’s up to you.

The G-Code Firebase can be ordered from Tactical Holsters at US$24.95 a pair.
