FN Announces SCAR 20S Precision Rifle For The Commercial Market

OptimusPrime

I do love my airsoft SCAR rifles. I got to own the built like a tank Classic Army SCAR-L AEG 11 years ago and still heavily use my Tokyo Marui SCAR-L and was able to play once with the Tokyo Marui SCAR-H and they have been impressive AEGs that I make sure I have a SCAR in my personal armoury.  But the FN SCAR family is not only the SCAR-L and SCAR-H, SCAR MK 20 SSR, SCAR-SC and the Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle (HAMR). I think there are more in this list as there are those variants offered for LE use.

But here comes the latest for commercial and law enforcement use, the FN SCAR 20S Precision Rifle. It uses the 7.62mm round just like the SCAR-H and the SCAR MK 20 SSR. It has the same specifications of of the MK 20 SSR that includes a 20-inch, 1-in-12-inch twist, heavy profile barrel and an adjustable stock. It is kitted with MIL-STD-1913 accessory rails at the 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12 o’clock positions.

The gas-operated piston was designed to recoil efficiently to be able improve follow-up shots and maintain target acquisition. Out of the factory, it comes installed with a double-stage Geissele Super SCAR trigger that provides a 3.5 to 4.5-pound trigger pull.

Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC.  in a press release said, “The FN SCAR 20S is the latest addition to our battle-proven line-up of FN SCAR products and the first commercial SCAR release since we launched the 17S in 2010. Customers will notice that the FN SCAR 20S shares more commonalities than differences with the MK20 SSR and reaffirms our commitment to producing commercial versions of our iconic military firearms.”
