Optimus Prime have shown us some photos of the Microdrone UAV he took during the Airsoft Arms Fair 2010. But it costs £20,000 and is really made for tactical and law enforcement purposes, especially with its battlefield computer. We have had discussions with airsoft players who are also RC hobbyists about their plans to build a UAV for airsoft use, and even MadBull Airsoft has shown us a prototype of their UAV whose release date hasn't been announced, if ever it gets to be released.
It was a great day during the Airsoft Arms Fair 2010, which was held last 22 May 2010 at Balsall Common, West Midlands. The sun was out and it was hot, which means summer has arrived in the United Kingdom.
*Sigh*. I doubt that this will become available for airsoft sites as they will be such an expensive toy only those with deep, deep, and deep pockets (read: Military) will be able to afford. Engadget has gotten hold of the news about this augmented reality combat simulator developed by Cubic Corporation called COMBATREDI.
Is it the state of the print publishing industry or is it incompetence? You judge for yourself but Airsoft International Magazine's distributor, Magazine Marketing Company (MMC), may about to go into administration (or receivership) as it is unable to pay about half of its publisher-clients. While publishers put out the content and titles, they usually rely on a middle group that handle the distribution part, ensuring that their titles appear at news agents, bookstores, and other shops.
As posted previously, the airsoft bb has become an artist's tool to make great art. Now meet the guy who has been doing the great artwork that's making raves in the art world. John O’Hearn, the main artist and owner of Ball Mosaics, does not only make airsoft BB works of art, they are 3D artwork so they can look different from whatever distance you're looking at the portrait.
While we have been pilloring the ATF on their seizure of the WE Gas Blowback Rifles imported by Airsoft Outlet Northwest comes a report that made us think twice. Fox News reports that one firearms manufacturer claims that these airsoft rifles can be converted into the real thing. Before everyone will be alarmed, this is only one dissenting opinion. As this is an interesting piece of news, we might as well dwell on the implications if this is really true.
This is already an annual arrangement with Tomo of X-Fire/PDI-Japan who is providing as a report of the latest product airsoft releases from Tokyo Marui that were unveiled during the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2010. There are 9 new products from Tokyo Marui, 8 being airsoft guns, and one is their own Bio BB release. Though what is presented here are 4 items, with three for potentiial development of PDI-Japan Upgrade parts in the near future.
Thumpy's getting a SCOOP!!! Which we hope he'll share with us immediately for posting. Thumpy posted his latest blog report covering May 9-11, 2010 with new airsoft videos from around the world. But what really got our attention is his posting about a "Major American Airsoft Company" and a "JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT that will blow the lid off the USA Airsoft scene…and the WORLD SCENE, Too!"
Catchy title isn't it? But it's no joke that there's actually a product available that achieves the Glock meets 1911 result. Defense Review produces photos about the Lone Wolf 1911-Style Glock 17/22 (G17/22) Pistol Frame (Polymer Grip Frame) with Extended Beavertail Tang which gives you the hybrid look and feel of both popular handguns. Don't you worry, it will not make your pistol look like a frankengun.
It has been quite a while since we last read a meaningful airsoft DIY project at Instructables. This one does get out attention as it helps airsoft players recycle broken airsoft magazines and turn them into BB holders while in the skirmish field. This mainly about high capacity magazines so you can have enough bbs for a magazine when it's needed.
