That title for the story should get your attention. Winning US$100,000 is big a deal, especially if you're an avid RC hobbyist with a keen interest in developing DIY drones. We've been thinking about a UAV for airsoft use which we know that there are some people working on it (I hope Madbull Airsoft is reading this since they have a UAV in the works for sometime now). And that is what DARPA wants you to do: develop a low cost (at US$10,000 each), portable drone that can be used by the US military to equip its soldiers in the near future.
It can be said with more confidence that the real steel FN SCAR Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) will soon be approaching production. We have initially reported about this last December 2010, when the French Defense Ministry wrote something about it. While there isn't one coming out for the airsoft market yet at least there's something to hope for as the airsoft community have been very well receptive of the FN SCAR Family.
A movie that is slowly being discussed among airsoft players is about a group of friends that went out to play a game of airsoft at an abandoned military facility that was previously used for secret experiments. As they went to do some skirmishes, they stumbled into three deranged ex-soldiers that turned the game into a hunt with real guns. It became the game of their lives.
An outbreak of the deadly virus Ebola erupts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, plunging the nation into chaos, panic and open civil war. Five rivals clash with each other and roving bands of tribal militias in the mountains outside of Buta city. Their goal, to find blood samples of all six viral strains of the outbreak and gain leverage and legitimacy for their faction.
It was that time of the year when the airsoft community in the UK would converge at Balsall Common in Coventry, just a few minutes south of Birminghan. It was the day for the 3rd Airsoft Arms Fair, which started last year and it's the only airsoft trade event that happens twice a year in the world.

Top action air shooters mainly from Asian countries such as the best from the Philippines and Hong Kong will be going through the courses in a test of skills and speed.
We're not done yet on stories about video games for this week as we still have one more. Only in Japan where you can find an Airsoft Shooting Bar. Though not exactly are they allowing airsoft shooting and drinking mix, as they have strict rules of not allowing you to target shoot with their airsoft guns when you're already inebriated. I would love to go to a bar which allows me to shoot airsoft guns. Too bad, there are not any around.
Since we have video games as topics in the past few days, then it's my turn to write about one. It's not about SAS, it's not about Navy SEALS, and definitely it's not about Task Force 141. But it's more about the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) being the good guys which is making the powers-that-be in Beijing extremely happy. At least they get to kick America's ass in this video game in which they are the good guys.
Just two days after the US Navy's SEAL Team 6 took down Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan, Disney Enterprises applied for a trademark at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Just for you to note and be able to avoid any legal entanglements with Disney and see Mickey Mouse on a legal warpath, keep in mind the following:
Kotaku, the gaming website, got the first dibs at breaking out initial details of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Whilst we don't know yet when it will have its definite release, the leaked details as posted at the website would assure you that you'll be in for some globe trotting. But there are some new guns that are added to the arsenal. We don''t yet if they will be part in the single player game, or as perks in the multiplayer.
