Another Win: The SIG P230 X-Carry Gets Selected By The Danish Armed Forces

The march of the SIG P320 as the preferred sidearm for military organisations continues. Just yesterday, the 12th of April 2018, the Danish Armed Force selected the flat-trigger SIG P230 X-Carry. The competitors for the gun selection process were the Beretta APX, Glock 17 Gen 5, and the Canik TP9 SF.

According the Danish Defence Ministry Defence Acquisition and Logistics (DALO) website, the guns were tested under all conceivable conditions by users from Special Operations, Military Police, Air Force and the Army. In the tests, the P320 was determined to be the best candidate in the four-week trial period. The test program was prepared by Hærens Kamp- og Ildstøttecenter (HKIC) in cooperation with FMI which consists of the following: malfunction test, accuracy test, shooting in the dark and field field. The gun was also tested by experts from Direct Shooting Weapons (DSV) at HKIC with which they a made drop test, penetration test and precision test.

There will be two versions that will be supplied to the Danes, the standard and a concealed carry. The P320 X-Series features a modular polymer X-series grip and extended magazine. The striker fired pistol has a flat trigger as well as an x-ray front sight and night sight rear plate. The P320 X-Series for the Danes will have a 21 round capacity.

Accessories that can be attached the P320 X-Carry are a silencer, laser or weaponlight, and a red dot sight.

The P320 X-Carry pistols are expected to be delivered to all services by the end of 2019 with SIG Sauer’s Danish agent, CT Solutions, handling the supply.

The Danish Armed Forces are the latest to acquire the SIG P320 after the U.S. Military began adopting the pistol in 2017.
