2007 Online Airsoft Retailer Satisfaction Survey Initial Report

OptimusPrime

The 2007 Online Retailer Satisfaction Survey was conducted last 2nd week of September to the 1st week of October 2007, tapping the global airsoft community on what they think of their online retailers, and find out their issues and problems, and also for online airsoft retailers to know how to improve their services. We thank all of those who have taken their time and participated in this survey as all their inputs have been very much valuable. As for online airsoft retailers, it is also high time to invest further in their websites.

We have posted here our initial report on the survey to give airsofters and retailers an initial snapshot on their online buying experiences. It is significant to note that airsofters have indicated issues and problems that basically touching on the fundamentals of maintaining an e-commerce site, which for web developers and content providers know by heart. These are basically:

  1. Relevancy of information
  2. Prompt responses to customer enquiries
  3. Navigation and design

The highlights of the survey:

  1. North America and Europe lead the way in online purchases of airsoft products.
  2. Most online buyers have purchased from online airsoft retailers more than 5 times.
  3. Online buyers average around US100 to less than US$500 per purchase, reflecting on the higher disposable incomes of airsoft players buying online.
  4. Cheaper prices are much preferred when buying online, followed by feedback from other airsoft players, and good customer service. Country location is not much relevant when purchasing airsoft products online.
  5. The buying experience have been generally satisfactory.
  6. High shipping costs is the no. 1 issue when buying online, followed by poor responses to customer enquiries and slow delivery times.
  7. Lack of Product information and product availability (realtime) are also main issues when buying online, followed by slow loading of pages and poor web design. These indicate that online airsoft retailers should invest more in better designed e-commerce sites, take more time in providing adequate information about their products, and ensure that stock availability information is in real-time.
  8. While the experience of buying online is generally satisfactory, a significant number of buyers have disputed online transactions.

We hope that this is very much helpful for online airsoft retailers and will listen to what online buyers of airsoft products have indicated in the survey. A more comprehensive report will soon be released in November.

Below are the raw survey results for you to make your own conclusions.
